East Side Neighborhood Garden
Welcomes You

We broke ground in 2019 to create the East Side Neighborhood Garden.

Our purpose is to educate all about gardening and growing our own food.

We also know that by connecting to each other our neighborhood becomes a better place to live.

FAQ

Where are you located?

The East Side Neighborhood Garden is located on the corner of
Channing and Division Street on the east side of Elgin, IL.
We can be found on Google Maps.

Who can garden there?

We welcome anyone interested in a garden bed that lives within the boundaries of the Gifford Park Neighborhood
or within a few miles of it.

You can request to be on the waitlist by emailing ourgarden2019@gmail.com

How large are the garden beds?

The standard beds are 4’ x 12’ and the larger beds are 4’ x 20’.
Large beds are offered to gardeners that are interested
after their first year gardening in a 4’ x 12’ bed.
The 4’ width allows gardeners to access the beds
without having to step into them.

How much does it cost per year?

The 4 x 12’bed is $30 for the entire season,
and the larger ones are $45.
This gives you access to a bed filled with good compost
as well as free water is on site.
Our season is from early April through the end of October.

What can I grow in my garden bed?

You can grow whatever veggies,
fruits, herbs, and flowers that you like!
We are an all organic garden, so no pesticides can be used.
Garden trellises, cages and decorations are encouraged as well.
As long as it sits inside the raised bed walls, it is welcome.

How else can I be involved?

There are monthly events for both gardeners
and friends of the garden.
You can just attend and enjoy these
or volunteer to help support one.
Gardeners can volunteer to work on specific projects together,
such as maintaining the native beds on site
or tending to the pumpkins.
